On August 29th, Yu Gongbin, vice chairman of Liaoning CPPCC, led a team to Liaoning University to conduct research activities on the topic of Improving the Social Governance System and the System and Mechanism of Rule of Law.  

Yu and his team successively came to the Judicial Appraisal Center of Liaoning University, Teaching and Research Achievements Exhibition in Lixing Building, Scene Action Laboratory, Cloud Economy Laboratory and Discipline Inspection and Supervision College to learn more about the construction and development in the university and listen to relevant work reports. He pointed out that the province was deeply fulfilling the key speeches and instructions on the revitalization of northeast China and Liaoning province. Liaoning is now fully implementing the spirits of the 20th National Congress of the CPC to carry out the newly-set breakthrough actions in an all-round manner. As a university listed in the “Double First-Class” university project, Liaoning University should give full play to its role as a comprehensive university. With strong advantages in disciplines of economics, law, management science and education of Marxist theory, Liaoning University can offer advice and suggestions on improving the social governance system and the system and mechanism of rule of law as well as serving the newly-set breakthrough actions in Liaoning province.

At the symposium, Yu made positive remarks on Liaoning University's achievements in discipline construction, real problem-oriented talent training, service to society and teaching team building. He emphasized that Liaoning University should actively play its leading role in the local area by giving special focuses on strengthening advantages and making up weak links and continue to promote the connotative development of the overall disciplines with the “Double First-class” disciplines as the guide. Liaoning University should accelerate its efforts in deepening the integration of politics, industries, education and research, establish contacts with cities and enterprises, carry out scientific and technological innovation and produce high-quality scientific research results by relying on the Urban Research Institute of Liaoning University. Liaoning University should give full play to the advantages of think tanks, actively make suggestions on Liaoning's economic and social development around issues such as social governance, legal environment construction, letters and visits and aging population and strive to produce high-level consultation results. By telling the Liaoning Story well, Liaoning University will make its voice heard in publicizing Liaoning's new looks, actions and responsibilities. With these efforts, more people will love Liaoning and take root here to achieve their dreams and consequently show greater responsibilities in winning the Liaoshen Campaign in the new era.  

On behalf of the Party Committee of the university, Pan Yishan welcomed Yu and his team and thanked the CPPCC in Liaoning province for its long-term care and support. He reported the overall situation of Liaoning University. He said that the university always stayed committed to the fundamental task of training talents with virtue, and served the national innovation-driven development strategy and the all-round revitalization of Liaoning. With the concept that serving 14 cities and 1 district in Liaoning Province means serving the national strategy in mind, Liaoning University adheres to going out, going deep and going up to fully integrate the Chinese-style modernization into real practices in Liaoning province and provide talent and intellectual support for Liaoning's economic and social development. President Yu Miaojie reported on the “Double First-class” construction of the university from the aspects of discipline construction, talent training, teaching staff building, platform construction, landmark achievement output, and social and international influence enhancement. He said that the university would continue to fully leverage its academic advantages, support experts in the university to actively offer suggestions on major issues of economic and social development in the province, and contribute to the wisdom and strength of Liaoning in winning the Liaoshen Campaign in the new era.   

The heads of relevant functional departments of the CPPCC participated in the research. Pan Yishan, secretary of the Party Committee of Liaoning University, and Yu Miaojie, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president, accompanied the research and attended the symposium. Sun Shiguo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Liaoning University, Zhang Hongxin, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, Vice Presidents Shi Baodong and Huo Chunhui, and heads of relevant functional departments attended the symposium.
